911 Assist

911 Assist: In an emergency–there’s no room for the middle man

A fast, simple, direct connection to 911

In an emergency–there’s no room for the middle man. Using your mobile phone, 911 Assist® helps put you directly in touch with a 911 operator—bypassing intermediary call centers—and if you’re unable to speak, delivers an emergency message to the operator.

When the 911 Assist feature * is set ON and a previously paired phone is connected to SYNC®, 911 Assist can make a call directly to a local emergency operator in the event of an accident involving the activation of an air bag or, on certain vehicles, the emergency fuel pump shut-off.

  • Gives occupants the option to cancel the call before dialing
  • Allows hands-free communication with a 911 operator
  • No subscription fees
  • No buttons or voice commands
  • On select 2011 models, 911 Assist will have the capability to offer spoken GPS coordinates at the operator's request.

* 911 Assist is available in the United States and Canada only.

Don’t have 911 Assist and Vehicle Health Report?
The upgrade—available now—is a software installation performed by dealers, and eligible customers are responsible for dealer installation charges, which may vary.

System Limitations include: 911 Assist must be activated/set on in the vehicle. The vehicle's electrical system (including adequate battery power), the wireless service provider’s signal, and a paired mobile phone all must be available and operating for 911 Assist ™ to function properly. The paired mobile phone must be connected to SYNC in order for 911 to be dialed. In the event that a previously connected mobile phone is unavailable, damaged, or loses its connection to SYNC, 911 Assist will search for and attempt to connect to any previously paired mobile in order to dial 911. 911 Assist is activated under two (2) conditions only: 1.) An airbag deployment, and on certain vehicles 2.) A fuel pump shut-off, not all accidents will result in these conditions.
